Abstract

Purpose: This study was carried out to identify the effects of reinforced communication curriculum on nursing student¡¯s communication skills and interpersonal attitudes.

Methods: This course consisted of a total of 12 sessions, 100 minutes per session. Questionnaires were the Communication Quotient Questionnaire and Life Position Inventory.

Results: The communication quotient was significantly higher post-test than pretest. The interpersonal U- and I+ attitude scores of the life position inventory of the posttest were significantly higher than the pretest and the I- score was significantly lower than the pre-test. Being ok (I+U+) tends to be significantly higher in the post-test (p=.088) but Not being ok (I-U-) was not statistically significant.

Conclusion: This communication course could be a theoretical framework for education and training in communication and could improve nursing student¡¯s communication skill and interpersonal attitude.
